Mr Rajiv Cabraal


As the Legal, Governance & IP Director, and as a member of the Data61 Executive Team, Rajiv helps develop the vision and direction of Data61, provides legal, governance and IP leadership, and develops the capability of Data61’s Legal, Governance and IP Team.

Data61 is the largest data innovation group in Australia, with world class capability in information and communications technology, computer science and statistics. Data61 connects a network of organisations across academia, corporations, start-ups, Commonwealth, State and Territory government agencies, investors and entrepreneurs focused on data-driven innovation for Australia but with global context.

Rajiv has over 17 years of experience in the legal sector, primarily focusing on companies, universities and organisations involved in carrying out research, and has extensive experience in relation to licensing and spin-outs, complex collaborations, joint ventures, alliances, and the establishment of major research centres and infrastructure.

Rajiv has a Bachelor of Applied Science (majoring in Biology), a Bachelor of Laws, and a Master of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology.

About the Association

The Australasian Institute of Judicial Administration (AIJA) is a research and educational institute associated with Monash University. It is funded by the Law, Crime and Community Safety Council (LCCSC) and also from subscription income from its membership.

The principal objectives of the Institute include research into judicial administration and the development and conduct of educational programmes for judicial officers, court administrators and members of the legal profession in relation to court administration and judicial systems.
